AGORA
Information and Sevice Bureau Network in the
Carpathian Basin

GENERAL
INTRODUCTION
The
Agora Information and Service Bureau Network was initiated
by and functioning with support of the Hungarian Ministry
of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sport, Ministry
of National Cultural Heritage and the Government Office
of Hungarian Minorities Abroad - in the scope of interdepartmental
cooperation - through the foundation of Marton Aron
College. The basic aim of the bureau network is an extensive
fostering of relationships between Hungarian youth in
the neighbouring countries and Hungary. It has as its
stressed aim the meeting of informational and training
needs of Hungarian youngsters living in neighbouring
countries, in this way advancing their remaining in
their native countries, the renewal and strengthening
of local Hungarian societies. For the sake of effective
fulfilment of undertaken tasks, the Agora Bureau Net
operates according to centrally defined, basically uniform
principles and values, in the same time taking regional
characteristics into account.

Spreading
and giving information

on training possibilities in Hungary, youth and
cultural events; in collaboration with non-profit
organizations, continuous provision of information
on changes in the education and government system
in Hungary. |
Administration
of scholarship applications

In
the course of the arrangement of applications for
Hungarian scholarships, the performance of administrational
and informational tasks; supporting student exchange
programs in Hungary. |
Employment
bureau for posts in the respective native country, carrier
counselling
| |
For
students in the last year of their studies, arranging
possibilities of professional practice in the native
country in collaboration with local student organisations;
providing college leavers and finalists with employment
possibilities and attending to carriers of students,
who have returned to their native country. |
Advancing
the maintenance of relations reaching across the borders,
professional support
| |
Advancing
intensive maintenance of relations among NGOs; organising
joint programmes, professional support of already
existing local initiatives. |
Popularising
educational and youth programmes
| |
Support
for introduction - on the local level - of educational
and youth programmes, initiatives, which have been
successful in other areas of the Carpathian Basin.
Seeking out local and Hungarian partner organisations
for programmes and cooperations extending over borders,
and helping the cooperation between these organisations. |
Information
on the Eropean Union, watchig competition and application
possibilities

According
to EU accession efforts being experienced in the
region and the idea of joint Europe, extensive informing
of minority public in neighbouring countries, providing
related information materials, continuous provision
of information on competition and application possibilities
announced by the European Union, giving assistance
in preparation of application materials, in shaping
and strengthening of relations with EU institutions
and organizations. |
SERVICES
For
the sake of realising the above mentioned aims, the
tasks of the offices are organised into, so called,
service-packages. From the point of view of information
provision, the following ten service-packages assure
the full covering of particular areas:

Studium - educational services and information,
informing about scholarship possibilities, administration
of applications, making professional publications
available;
Agora Juventus - provision of information
concerning youth, supporting exchange programmes,
spreading events and programmes;
Agora Europe - EU information, watching applications
and competitions, joining international initiatives,
distribution of information material;
Agora Civis - watching applications for NGOs,
seeking out partners, programme calendar, organizing
professional forums;
Agora Globus - student turism, summer jobs,
international reduced fares, international student
identity card, general youth allowances;
Agora Hungaria - supporting and fostering
of Hungarian-Hungarian relations, information on
events concerning the Hungarian nation, the educational,
youth and cultural terms of the Act on Hungarians
Living in Neighbouring Countries;
Agora Press - news agency, publication of
youth, educational and cultural information and
daily news;
Agora Mentor - counsel service, counselling
on applications and "student rights",
seeking out and employing professionals;
Agora Karrier - organization of partner markets,
providing assistance in finding employment;
Agora Culture --spreading information on
cultural events and programmes. |
